Just like the local people in Kobanê, the youth organization of the PYD (Democratic Union Party) has also taken up arms against the attacks of inhuman ISIS gangs targeting the canton since 15 September. Kobanê youths who are affiliated to the youth organization formed a self defense unit firstly in the Botan neighborhood to the east of the town which also has a special meaning for housing the "Martyr Dicle" cemetery belonging to the fighters of the YPG/YPJ (People's/Women's Protection Units). 'Dirty hands of ISIS will never be able to touch cemetery of our martyrs' Youths promise that "The dirty hands of ISIS will never be able to touch the cemetery of our martyrs". Hemudê Hesen, who used to take part in political activities of the PYD youth organization before the ISIS attacks began, said youths in the PYD decided to join the self-defense forces after the beginning of attacks. Hesen told that; “We firstly established a unit in the East Botan neighborhood under the leadership of the PYD youth organization. Many youths from this neighborhood who had gone to Turkey for work have turned back to join the self-defense after ISIS attacks. We have also included these youths in the self-defense unit.” 'They are ready for fight when needed' “We are defending our neighborhood. Clashes haven't reached this area yet but we will defend and protect our town should they happen to target us”, Hesen said and noted that they also took their part in the YPG positions and waited ready for the fight when needed. Hesen recalled that they will not allow the gangs to lay their dirty hands on the cemetery of YPG/YPJ fighters in the neighborhood. 'Whatever consequences, Kobanê will never be left to ISIS' Ahmed Bêziki who joined the self-defense upon the call of PYD youths, told that; “From now on, I will be protecting my neighborhood and town together with my comrades. Whatever the consequences, Kobanê will never be left to ISIS gangs.” Bêziki said his two brothers who are currently in Turkey for work will also turn back and join the resistance. PYD Kobanê youth organization spokesperson Azadi Mıhemmed said they would expand self defense units to all neighborhoods, and called on the youths from Kobanê who have migrated to various countries to join the battle for self-defense.
