Demirtaş: Time to set up democratic ruling of peoples now

DİYARBAKIR (DİHA) - Speaking in his party's ordinary provincal congress in Diyarbakır, HDP General Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş said: "It is time to set up democratic ruling of the peoples in Tutkey now."

The HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) Diyarbakır Provincal Organization held its 1st Ordinary Provincal Congress at Seyrantepe Closed Sport Hall. HDP General Co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, HDP MPs, DBP (Party of Democratic Regions) regional co-mayors, DTK Co-chair Selma Irmak, HDK Co-spokeperson Sebahat Tuncel, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Co-mayors Fırat Anlı and Gültan Kışanak, ESP General Head Sultan Ulusoy, KESK General Co-chair Lami Özgen, artists Ferhat Tunç and Pınar Aydınlar, Peace Mothers, labour unions, Rojava delegation, DÖKH, MEYADER, TUYAD-DER, non-governmental organizations and tens of tens of thousands of citizens are expected to participate into the congress.

Victory of Kobanê saluted for times

The placards reading "We are organizing our freedom for New Life", "Kobanê martyrs; your path is our path, your promise is our promise" and "We will become flood of peace, freedom and democracy from lands of sun and turn upside down the election threshold", poster of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) Leader Abdullah Öcalan and dying YPG/YPJ fighters, Cizre victims were hung to the hall. The slogans of "Long live Leader Apo", "Long live fraternity of peoples", "Martyrs do not die" and "There can't be any life without leader". One minute silence was held in memory of all those who lost their lives in the struggle of democracy and freedom.

Yüksekdağ: This people will turn upside your balances down

Spaking in the congress, HDP General Co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ underlined: "PM Davutoğlu sent salutes in Diyarbakır to Kobanê last week. The people and fighters in Kobanê know very well that whom they take salutes from. You was saying 'Kobanê is on the verge of falling'. The historical resistance of this people made you sent this salute. This people will bring you to right path. We have just begun. The political ruling will swallow its words more just like this times. This people will turn upside your balances down."

Enver Muslim: Victory of Kobanê is success of all peoples

In the pirsuit of Yüksekdağ's speech, Kobanê Canton Co-president Enver Muslim connected to the congress via telephone. Tens of thousands of people saluted and applauded him for times. Muslim said: "I commemorate all martyrs of Kobanê respectively. Victory of Kobanê is the success of all the peoples."

Demirtaş: There were war of two mentalities

Later on, HDP General Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş took scene among slogans of "Amed is proud of you". Demirtaş drew attention on the importance of Kobanê victory and said: "This victory has the power to change the balances in the Middle East. We remember all the martyrs recpectively. This victory costed dozens of victims. There were war of two mentalities in Kobanê. Daesh gangs are still contitute danger for the peoples in the region."

'Day is day of unity'

Demirtaş stated, "It is time to set up democratic ruling of the peoples in Tutkey now. I am calling on all Islamic, Alawis, women and pro-Kurdistan movements who have conducted this freedom struggle along with us. Day is day of unity. We want a term which national unity serves its historical duty. If we provide our national unity, we will give a response to all the world."

In the wake of speeches, the report of action and finance was read. Later on, Gülşen Özer and Ömer Önen were elected as HDP Diyarbakır provincal co-chairs.
