President Barzani: Reconstruction of Kobanê is a national duty

HEWLÊR (DİHA) - South Kurdistan President Masoud Barzani has called upon all Kurdish people and the world to help rebuild Kobanê Canton of West Kurdistan, Rojava.
 
The Barzani Charity Foundation has launched a campaign to win international and national support to help rebuild the battle-scarred city. “From the very first step, the Barzani Charity Foundation has donated more than $500,000 to this campaign,” said Musa Ahmad, deputy president of the Barzani Charity Foundation. Transcript of the official statement released on Friday by the Office of the President:

'Conspiracy of the enemy has failed'

"Due to the courage of the Peshmerga and Kurdish fighters, Kobanê did not fall into the hands of the terrorists, and the enemy was defeated. As a result of the barbaric onslaught of ISIS terrorists against Kobanê, tens of thousands of families fled the city and abandoned their homes and proprieties. The majority of Kobanê is now destroyed. The terrorists thought by destroying the city they would end the Kurds and normal life in the city, but the valor and durability of our sisters and brothers in the city did not let them fulfill their dream. The conspiracy of the enemy has failed, and following the liberation of the city, life will resume as soon as possible. We all must help rebuild the city and help displaced families return to Kobanê with honor."

'Rebuilding Kobanê is duty of all Kurds'

"Helping in the reconstruction of Kobanê is a national duty of all Kurds. Therefore, I would like to ask the Kurdish people and civil society, the media and charity foundations from every corner of this world to take part in helping the destitute people and rebuild the city. Our hearts and thoughts were with the people and Kurdish fighters in Kobanê when the battle was underway in the city. Sending the Peshmerga to this beloved city was our duty and honor, our national duty to help our brothers and sisters from this part of Kurdistan. Now, Kobanê needs more help. We must ramp up our efforts and use all the resources we have to help the city. We must all raise our voices and share our happiness and sorrows."
