More attacks at HDP during election campaign 2015-05-14 10:00:21 ISTANBUL (DİHA) - While election campaign for June 7 elections in Turkey heats up, the attacks at Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) continues. According to HDP Law Commission, during the election campaign, 56 offices of their party have been attacked by either ultra nationalist Turks or radical Islamists throughout Turkey. The HDP’s Law Commission said in a statement that most of these incidents including two armed attacks occurred in western cities with Istanbul in lead with the highest number followed by Ankara, Trabzon, Antalya, Bursa, Tokat and Rize. “Turkish police have failed to bring the the perpetrators to justice”, the statement added. HDP Law Commission lawyer Pinar Akdemir blamed Turkish state for not taken necessary safety measures despite their warnings. The party's General Co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ also confirmed 56 assaults towards their parties across Turkey. (nt)
