Attack with gas bombs at protest of massacre 2015-07-26 10:51:47 İZMİR (DİHA) - Police attacked a march heading for the AKP building in Izmir, arresting nine and wounding two women protestors. The Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) called for a march in Izmir to end at the AKP building. Police blockaded the area where marchers were gathered, at which point the crowd began to chant slogans condemning the massacre in Suruç and praising the Kobanê resistance. When the crowd held a sit-in, the police attack began. Hundreds of police attacked the crowd with nightsticks and tear gas. Citizens in the march noted that police were particularly targeting women protestors, including Pelin Vargün (a lawyer for the party CHP), who had to be hospitalized.
