Demirtaş: Turkish society must raise its voice 2015-08-02 16:18:17 ANKARA (DİHA) - HDP Co-President Demirtaş objected to the massacre of civilians in Zergelê village and said that HDP was going to send a delegation to the village. Demirtaş emphasized that peace would only come if Turkish society raised its voice. HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) General Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş spoke to journalists in front of HDP Headquarters and pointed out that the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the massacre in Zergelê. Demirtaş noted that AKP was trying to at least cut off treasury grants to HDP by suing HDP, and said that it was AKP that should have been sued for Roboski and Gezi massacres as well as the Turkish state support for ISIS. Call to Davutoğlu Demirtaş stated that HDP could not yet send a delegation to Kandil due to the ongoing Turkish warplane bombardments in the region, and emphasized that peace would only come if Turkish society raised its voice against the AKP plans for war and chaos. Demirtaş callued upon Turkish Prime Minister Davutoğlu to change his discourse from ‘annihilating Kandil’ to ‘stop shooting at those who are not shooting back.’ Demirtaş added that AKP was responsible for each death in this country. 'Nobody should be hateful' Demirtaş highlighted the need for returning to dialogue, and warned that AKP was trying to polarize Turkish society. Demirtaş noted that everyone in Turkey wanted peace except for the Palace and its circles, and said that nobody should be hateful towards one another. (nt)
