Heavy clashes ongoing nightlong in Cizre: 2 youths massacred 2016-01-10 11:44:22 ŞIRNAK (DİHA) - Two more civilians have been murdered in Cizre district of Şırnak were state terror and onslaught against the self-rule will of people continues for the 28th day. As the popular resistance against artillery attacks endures in neighborhoods, the town last night witnessed the heaviest clashes since the beginning of the curfew. While Turkish police and soldiers attempted to enter Cudi neighborhood from three sides; Caferi Sadık Hill, Sait Atak Elementary School and Çarkendal areas throughout the night, the neighborhood was also targeted by tank and artillery attacks and gunfire from armored vehicles till the morning. Clashes erupted in the neighborhood as members of Civil Defense Units (YPS) strongly responded to Turkish security members that attempted to enter the area protected by self-defense groups. Casualties have been reported on the side of Turkish forces as a result of the clashes that lasted till the morning. Turkish soldiers and police opened random fire on the neighborhood in the wake of the fighting, which left youths Nebi Katlav and Şükrü Coşkun dead. While bodies of both youths remain at the scene of clashes, Turkish forces have retreated to hills and are continuing to target the neighborhood by tank and artillery fire. Special operation teams deployed in buildings on Yafes Street are attacking Nur neighborhood as well. Attacks by state forces had killed Murat Ekinci (22) and Murat Egül (24) in Cudi neighborhood yesterday afternoon. In the meantime, body of a 35-year-old civilian who was shot dead in Yafes neighborhood several days ago, has been taken to hospital morgue. A total of 41 civilians have been murdered by Turkish military and police forces during the latest curfew ongoing in the Kurdish town of Cizre. (nt)
