This year's theme of Fimmor 'Wallet is freedom of woman'
ISTANBUL (DİHA) - The independent International Filmmor Women's Film Festival on Wheels, organized by women for women, is to kick off for the 12th time in Istanbul and for the first time in Adana, Mersin, Bodrum-Mugla.
This year's theme will be “A Purse, An Income, A Budget of Her Own”. The festival will present 60 films from 22 countries, thematic screenings and retrospectives as well as panel discussions, workshops and seminars. A new section will meet the audience this year: Kaleidoscope. While the festival had screened only films by women directors so far, this year this new section will host a male director and his film to have a discussion on.
Once again, the Golden Okra Awards will be awarded. The Festival will take place in Istanbul between March 15-23, in Mersin between April 5-6, in Adana between April 12-13 and in Bodrum-Mugla on April 19-20. Women's Cinema is the compilation of this year's feature, documentary and short films by women directors from Turkey and abroad. Our Body is Ours is the section where women declare that “our body is ours” through their films from around the world. A Purse of Her Own will bring the stories of women who stand on their feet economically independent.
Sex-ual-ity will present the films that go beyond the ordinary on issues of sexuality, sexual identity and gender. The two retrospectives of 12th Festival are:
A daring woman: Catherine Breillat
On the 20th anniversary of her death: Bilge Olgaç
Purple Camera Promising Woman Filmmaker Award: The solidarity award will be given to the directors of the films that represent women in a non-passive, non-traditional and non-sexist and that opens up a space for women for their subjecthood, subjectivity, resistance, action and dreams.
