Kurdish film director wins two international awards
NEWS DESK (DİHA) - Kurdish film director Shahram Mokri, from Kermanshah, Iran, has received two awards in the Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) in Switzerland for his Persian film, Mahi Va Gorbeh (Fish and Cat).
Mahi Va Gorbeh, about the crushed hopes of youth, won ‘Best Film’ in the festival, bringing its international awards up to seven. Mahi Va Gorbeh previously participated in the Iranian Fajr International Film Festival as well as the Venice Film Festival, where it was also awarded ‘Best Film’.
Mokri, born in 1977, is an Iranian Kurdish writer and film director, well known in Iran and internationally. His most famous films are: Electric Shock and Fly 2000, The Dragonfly Storm 2002, Limit of Circle 2005, Ando-C 2007, The Sacred (Charmed) Ring and Other Stories 2009, Raw, Cooked and Burnt 2010 and Fish and Cat 2013.
