CHP Nusaybin branch members resign
MARDİN (DİHA) - The chair and the all the members of the executive committee of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), main opposition party in Turkey, have resigned from the party which they criticized for not developing policies to answer the expectations of the Kurdish people.
CHP’s Nusaybin branch chair Seval Kartal and the members of the executive committee have held a press conference today where they shared the reasons of their resignation from CHP and announced that they will join the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP). Reading out the press release, district organisation chair Seval Kartal said CHP is not able to break with the nationalist mentality and therefore not capable of approaching the Kurdish question in a realistic way nor developing policies to answer the expectations of the Kurdish people.
The CHP members said in the statement that the reason of their breaking with CHP is that the party failed to develop paradigm for the realization of the democratic ruling wished by the peoples in Turkey, and to fulfill its duty as the main opposition in the parliament in the face of the violations of rights recently.
Kartal further said that they have decided to continue their political activities in People’s Democratic Party (HDP), which he defined as the only de facto main opposition party putting great efforts for the realization of peace and fraternity on the one hand and developing serious and realistic policies for well-known problems of the population and for the improvement of democracy in the country on the other hand.
It has been reported that a ceremony will take place in the coming days for the joining of the resigned in the HDP.
