TEV-DEM announces 'Project for a Democratic Syria’
NEWS CENTER (DİHA) - TEV-DEM has announced a ‘Resolution Project for a Democratic Syria’ to find a way out of the current crisis.
The Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM), the umbrella organization for the Kurdish accociations in Rojava, Western Kurdistan, has announced a ‘Resolution Project for a Democratic Syria’ to find a way out of the current crisis. The Rojava Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) has prepared a project encapsulating all the peoples of Syria, which it has sent to many circles in Syria.
Main Principles
1- Transforming the understanding based on coercion and chauvinistic nationalism into a democratic inclusive understanding.
2- Waging a war against Salafi groups, whatever their name
3- Defending Syria
4- Respect for all elements that make up the entirety of Syria
In light of these principles all forces in Syria must make urgent efforts to include themselves in this project. In order for this to happen, firstly all political circles must take on the task of achieving the goal of the project and hold talks. Secondly, all these forces and their representatives must meet and hold discussions. Thirdly, a conference must be organised, which the United Nations will attend as observers. Fourthly, an assembly must be constituted at this conference including representatives of all communities, women and youth.
The tasks of this assembly will be as follows:
1- To undertake work towards a ceasefire
2- To secure the release of all political prisoners
3- To establish relations with all states involved and with the United Nations
4- To set up an administration and organise an election in the country
5- The assembly will consist of two committees: a committee to draft a democratic constitution and a committee to prepare for a general election
Fifthly, the assembly’s authority and tasks will end when the crisis in Syria is over and a new government is established.
