Asya Abdullah: International support needed for reconstruction and peace
NEWS DESK (DİHA) - PYD Co-president Asya Abdullah called for support for the Rojava revolution at a meeting in Copenhagen, saying international support is needed for the reconstruction of Kobanê and peace in the Middle East.
PYD (Democratic Union Party) Co-president Asya Abdullah attended a public meeting in Copenhagen at the invitation of the Red-Green Coalition Party (Enhedslisten). The meeting was organised by Enhedslisten, the Kurdish Friendship Forum and the Federation of Kurdish Associations in Denmark (FEYKURD).
'Revolution of humanity'
Asya Abdullah evaluated the latest situation in Kobanê, saying the Rojava revolution was a revolution of humanity and called for people to take ownership of it. She said: "The Rojava revolution is not just a Kurdish revolution, but is also a project for all the peoples of the Middle East." Abdullah added that international support was needed for both the reconstruction of Kobanê and for peace to be established in the Middle East. Abdullah recalled that there is to be a conference in Amed between 3rd and 5th of May on the reconstruction of Kobanê.
'Contacts are continuing'
Abdullah said the Kurds had always advocated peace, fraternity and equality and would continue to do so, saying that no one should be concerned that the Kurds were gaining strength in the Middle East. Abdullah is continuing her contacts in Denmark. She has met the head of the Danish Foreign Ministry office and is expected to hold meetings with representatives of political parties and to attend a press conference in the Danish Parliament.
