Demirtaş: It's time to take ship forward all together
İSTANBUL (DİHA) - Speaking in the conference entitled "Alawism: History, Matter, Envisagement", HDP General Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş said, "The solution of the matters is on the offshoots of the HDP. All together, we want to become government in the country. We are the owners of this country. We should exceed demanding anymore, we should build. If we, oppressed, pour into this sea together, then it's time to take ship forward all together."
The Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) is organizing a two-days conference entitled "Alawism: History, Matter, Envisagement" at Legacy Ottoman Hotel in Istanbul. In addition to hundreds of citizens, Alevi-Bektashi Federation, Hacı Bektahi Veli Anatolian Culture Union, Hubyar Sultan Alevi Culture Union and Democratic Alevi Union members, HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) General Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş, HDK Co-speaker Sebahat Tuncel, HDP İstanbul MP Levent Tüzel, the Confederation of Public Workers' Unions (KESK) General Co-chair Lami Özgen, HDK unities, HDP provincal organization executives and Alevi opinion leaders took part in the conference. The posters of Seyit Rıza, Prophet Ali and Pir Sultan Abdal were hung to the hall.
Tuncel: Alevis cannot opt out resolution process
Speaking in the conference, HDK Co-speaker Sebahat Tuncel stated that there were currently two matters behind the war in the Middle East, and added, "The first one is identity matter, the second one is belief and sectarian matter. If we live in a democratic Turkey, we must handle both identities and identites of believes. The solution of Kurdish issue will bring a new constitution in Turkey. So, Alevis cannot opt out the resolution process. This is a sine qua non for the process."
Demirtaş: Solution of matter is on offshoots of HDP
In the wake of MP Tuncel, HDP General Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş spoke. Demirtaş said, "AKP will not be a remedy for the matter of Kurds, Alevis, woman, or worker. AKP government does not want to resolve the issue. The solution of the matter is possible with a joint work. The solution of the matters is on the offshoots and roots of the HDP. Because, we have defeated all the dams before the peoples. We are ready for a new life, for change. The society's hope is on the HDP from now on."
'We should exceed demanding anymore, we should build'
Demirtaş resumed his speech by remembering the resisters in Kobanê, Shengal and Maxmur. "Maybe, they are on the emplacements, another one of them will sacrifice his/her life. They have no such an agenda of election. They are resisting for our honour," added Demirtaş and called on all peoples to keep their struggle alive.
HDP co-chair touched on the matters and demands of Alevis and said, "Compulsory religion lesson is an oppression. It has to be abolished. The Sunni community must demand this more. The state is telling you, your own religion. Whoever defines him/herself 'Moslem', must oppose to this."
Demirtaş called on the peoples in Turkey, "All together, we want to become government in the country. We are the owners of this country. We should exceed demanding anymore, we should build. If we, oppressed, pour into this sea together, then it's time to take ship forward all together."
