Emergency state in Van before Erdoğan's rally
VAN (DİHA) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan continues rallies under the name of “mass opening ceremonies” across the country.
Erdoğan will today be visiting Van province which has already been surrounded and blockaded by police since earlier today.
The heavy police presence and intense security measures are being witnessed in all the areas leading to the Beşyol Junction where his rally will take place. Flags of other parties hanged around the rally area have all been pulled off, while the AKP flags and posters of PM Davutoğlu and MP candidates remain in place.
A large number of anti-riot water cannon vehicles and armored police vehicles, as well as thousands of police have been deployed at many points in the city, including those brought from surrounding cities for today.
Erdoğan is expected to speak at the rally area in the afternoon.
