PYD to hold second congress in Efrîn
SERÊKANİYÊ (DİHA) - PYD (Democratic Union Party) of West Kurdistan, Rojava, held a preliminary meeting for the first congress it will organise in the Efrîn Canton.
During the first congress in the Cizîre (Jazireh) region on 8 May, the party organisation and constitution was revised in accordance with the cantonal system and a Cizîre canton party assembly was established. A proposal to reorganise the internal functions, constitution and regulations of the PYD in accordance with the cantonal system was put to a vote and after debate and some changes were made, the proposal was accepted.
As part of the preparations for the second congress, PYD held a meeting in Efrîn yesterday with the participation of party representatives from all neighborhoods. In a statement at the meeting, PYD Executive Board member Şiyar Çiya evaluated the recent developments in Rojava, Syria and the region.
Çiya pointed out that in Rojava, which stands at the center of all these developments, the PYD should ensure a strong organisation and hold a congress in Efrîn Canton for this purpose.
Following broad debates, participants determined a number of topics to be handled at the second congress in Efrîn, as well as 15 delegates to attend the congress on behalf of the Efrîn Canton.
