European Socialists urge all parties to join forces to combat ISIS
NEWS CENTER (DİHA) - “The fact that a group of socialist young people in Turkey have been massacred as they prepared to volunteer in Syria, is so abominable that it is beyond belief", said Sergei Stanishev, Party of European Socialists (PES).
Reacting to the suicide attack on socialist youths gathering in Suruç district of Urfa yesterday, Sergei Stanishev, Party of European Socialists (PES) President said; “The fact that a group of socialist young people in Turkey have been massacred as they prepared to volunteer in Syria, is so abominable that it is beyond belief."
The statement by President of the PES recalled that these Turkish and Kurdish young socialists believed in solidarity between peoples and set off to help with the reconstruction of the Syrian town of Kobanê by acting on those principles. "It is nothing short of abominable that they were reportedly the victims of a suicide bomber attack".
PES President Stanishev offered heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the attack and underlined that these disgusting attacks must be stopped from happening and from tearing young people away from their families.
Cooperation is urgently needed in the fight against Islamic State extremists, Stanishev said, urging all parties to join forces to combat Islamic State in Turkey and elsewhere in the region.
