HDP requests general meeting to evaluate policies of AKP
ANKARA (DİHA) - HDP Group Deputy Chairpersons İdris Baluken and Pervin Buldan requested a general meeting to evaluate the policies of the government inside and outside Turkey that move away from peace and to discuss recent perilous developments. All 80 HDP parliamentarians signed the request.
In its request, HDP noted that the recent extraordinary conditions in Turkey reached a perilous stage with the brutal massacre in Suruç and the foreign policies implemented after clashes in Syria reached a level in March 2015 that puts the security of civilians in danger and claims innocent lives.
HDP said that the foreign policy implementation moving away from peace was increasing the threats against peoples, and added that the groups in power failed to take necessary security precautions and seriously investigate recent atrocities. HDP reminded that the perpetrators of attacks since Reyhanlı have not been brought to justice, and the failure to do so was hurting social conscience.
The party pointed out that the shifting balances in Syria enabled the rise of new forces ranging from powers that implement peaceful policies and work towards the equal coexistence of peoples to terrorist organizations that commit the most brutal atrocities of human history.
HDP criticized the government for ignoring the Rojava administration as opposed to establishing diplomatic, political and economical relations with it. The party described the presence of forces, which work towards the coexistence of peoples, on the Turkish border as a great opportunity given the chaotic environment in Syria, and added that the government was wasting this opportunity with its mistaken foreign policies.
HDP pointed out that the government failed to support peaceful administrations fighting against barbarian and rapist groups such as ISIS, and stated its concern that the current foreign policies could lead to more massacres. HDP called upon the government to take serious precautions against the terrorist group ISIS.
'Parliament must take an active role'
Baluken and Buldan stated that, in addition to its foreign policy that is not peaceful, the government was failing to work towards peace inside the country and ignoring the current stage of the negotiations that has vital importance. HDP representatives stated that the foundations of the current ceasefire were getting weaker, and invited the parliament to take active role in the strengthening of peace and coexistence. Baluken and Buldan underlined the dangers of internal and foreign policies that move away from peace, and ended their statement by inviting the Turkish Parliament to meet and discuss these policies that threaten the lives of peoples in Turkey.
