Sit-in outside house of slain leftist Özarslan
ISTANBUL (DİHA) - Lawyers have started a sit-in outside the house of Günay Özarslan, their client, slain by police today.
Lawyers from the People's Law Bureau say that they suspect that their client, Günay Özarslan, was assassinated by Istanbul police today. In the dawn hours today, Turkish police launched an operation that they claimed targeted members of the Kurdish left organization YDG-H (Patriotic Revolutionary Youth-Movement); Turkish left organization DHKP-C (Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front); and ISIS or Daesh.
Günay Özarslan was killed by police today in a home in Istanbul's Bağcılar district. Police claimed Özarslan opened fire, but lawyers from the People's Law Bureau say they suspect an assassination. Police have refused to allow lawyers into the building. They fear that evidence is being covered up in the killing. The lawyers are continuing their sit-in outside the building.
