Turkey bombs guerrillas: Civilians wounded, forests ablaze
NEWS DESK (DİHA) - According to initial reports emerging from the guerrilla zones and surrounding areas bombarded by Turkish warplanes, civilians have been wounded and forest fires begun in the area.
According to news agency Rojnews, the Turkish army's bombardment of the Kurdish guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones started last night at 10:55 p.m and continued until 6:00 a.m. The bombardment targeted the regions of Kandil, Zap, Metîna, Garê, Haftanîn, Avaşîn and Xakurkê. According to initial reports, there were then mortar and Howitzer attacks on the Zap, Metîna, Haftanîn and Avaşîn areas.
A number of forest fires have started in the region. In the Garê region, which contains both guerrilla and civilian settlements, the villages of Derişkê and Şêrt have been attacked. There has also been intense bombing at Deşta Kafya, where buildings and the local forest are ablaze.
The bombing of the important Kandil region of the guerrilla zone began at 1:15 a.m. last night and continued until morning. While all details are not available, there are civilians wounded in the village of Enzê, targeted in the bombing.
The attack on the Xakurkê region lasted until 7:30 a.m. There were also civilian settlements struck in this area. Bombing struck the areas villagers use as plateaus for their animals, as well as settlements.
Intense drone activity continued after the bombings ended.
