Video has emerged of the torture perpetrated by special operation police teams against dozens of people taken into custody in a raid in a construction site in Yüksekova district of Hakkari on August 5.
'You will face the power of the Turk!'
The footage published by DIHA shows a member of special operation teams threatening the detainees, who were lined up face down with their hands tied up behind, saying; “What did this state do to you? I know all of you. Whoever is involved in treason, will pay back. You will face the power of the Turk!”
The video shows the brutal treatment suffered by 52 people in the hands of special operation teams who raided a private construction site in Yüksekova, wearing masks and accompanied by armored vehicles. Among the 52 people detained and tortured here, 46 were released after referral to police quarters, while seven others are expected to be taken to court.
The video, which pictures the torture those released said they had suffered, also shows civilian vehicles near the workers lying on the ground under threats and insults, and members of special operation teams entering the construction site surrounded by armored vehicles.
'Do not look at me!'
The video features a threatening speech by a member of special operation teams, who says; "You will face the power of the Turk and the Turkish state." As one of the workers lying on the ground looks at the policeman speaking, he strongly reacts; "Do not look at me! Everyone look on the ground."
In photographs serviced to the press, Hakkari Governor's Office previously reported that soldiers had seized large quantities of munitions during the raid. Yet, the footage shows that is is only the police teams themselves that bear arms.
