HPG claims responsibility for action in Sultanbeyli
NEWS DESK (DİHA) - HPG Press Office reported in a written statement that the self-sacrifice action at Fatih Police Headquarter in İstanbul’s Sultanbeyli district on August 10 night, and the following action against police forces in the morning were carried out by a team of three persons affiliated to Şehit (Martyr) Zîlan Battalion of the Immortal.
HPG said the action was conducted in memory of Şervan Varto who had been martyred in a Turkish airstrike in guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones on July 24. The statement pointed out that the losses left by the action were obviously heavier that was reflected by the Turkish media, adding that the exact number of casualties however couldn't be ascertained by their side.
Erdal Nûda (Erdal Yıldız), Harun Raman (Burak Boğakan) and Botan Canfeda (Deniz Uçkun) did all fall a martyr in the action by an HPG team of self-sacrifice, HPG said, underlining that no other group or organization was involved in the action, despite the attempts of some to reclaim responsibility for it on social media or other various communication channels.
The statement pointed out that; "Following the action in Sultanbeyli-Istanbul, HPG Central Headquarters Command instructed all units affiliated to 'Martyr Zîlan Battalion of the Immortal' not to carry out self-sacrifice actions in response to the ongoing attacks on Kurdish people and movement and the aggravated isolation on the Kurdish leader. Actions aiming to harm the enemy should rather turn preferable. For this reason, plans of severe actions like the ones in Adana-Pozantı and İstanbul-Sultanbeyli should be delayed until a further order and different forms of action should be developed and practiced instead.”
