Human shield actions by civilians ongoing
AĞRI (DİHA) - Human shield actions continue in Ağrı and Tendürek mountains that had been announced as “Temporary Military Security Regions” by Ağrı Governor's Office, and protestors note that their resistance against AKP and Erdoğan will continue.
The human shield actions entered their 6th day after the closure of Ağrı and Tendürek mountains to civilians on August 5.
'We will resist until Tayyip's dreams collapse'
HDP and DBP administrators from Iğdır came to the tent human shield protestors set up near Mount Ağrı. HDP Iğdır Parliamentarian M. Emin Adıyaman made a statement in the tent and said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the AKP government were waging a war and using the blood of impoverished people’s children. Adıyaman reiterated their determination to spread resistance across Kurdistan until the day peace arrives and Tayyip’s dreams of dictatorship collapse.
'We are here to prevent casualties'
Civilians continue to wait in Mount Tendürek and have not abandoned their two tents despite the activities of helicopters and drones over the mountain. HDP Ağrı parliamentarians Dirayet Dilan Taşdemir and Berdan Öztürk continue to show solidarity with the protestors and join them in line dancing around the tents. Öztürk stated that helicopters bombarded Girê Neriya Hill and Gurd areas two days ago, but people’s morale was high and would not abandon the region as the state would like them to do. Öztürk ended his statement by saying that they were in Tendürek to prevent casualties and their only goal was peace.
