House raids in Istanbul: 2 detained
ISTANBUL (DİHA) - Turkish police teams have raided the houses of members of the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF), the activist group targeted in July's bombing in the town of Suruç in July.
On July 20, a suicide bombing targeted youth activists from the SGDF as they were making a press announcement in the town of Suruç, just across the border from the Rojava city of Kobanê. 32 died in the bombing. Now, special police teams have cracked down on the homes of SGDF members and activists, despite the lack of a warrant to search the houses.
Special highly armed teams of police raided the houses early this morning, violently forcing SGDF members to the ground. The police, who had no warrant to conduct arrests or searches, left the homes without making any arrests and seizures after they brutalized the residents.
Şerife Erbay and İlke Başak Baydar, two survivors of the Suruç bombing, were recovering from their wounds in the houses that were raided.
