Human shield actions amidst military operations
VAN (DİHA) - HDP and DBP Van branches have started human shield action in the Feraşin Highland, which is located at the triangular area between Van, Şırnak and Hakkari. The human shield action has been launched in order to prevent probable clashes between guerrillas and Turkish forces after the recent declaration of the area as Military Security Zone”
The action is participated by HDP Van deputy Tuğba Hezer, HDP and DBP executives, and members of Peace Mothers’ Assembly as well as local people who set up tents near the Memed Goyi and Rojîn Gewda Martyrs' Cemeteries in the area.
Followingone minute’s silence for the martyrs, HDP Van deputy Tuğba Hezer said in a short speech that the Kurdish people have never given up their struggle for freedom and demand for a dignified life despite all the state policies of assimilation and denial pursued against them.
In relation to the resolution process which was started thanks to the big efforts of the Kurdish People’s leader Abdullah Öcalan in 2013, Hezer recalled the hopes the process raised among the Kurds and the peoples of Turkey that there would no longer be any conflict in the country.
“This issue, which was a vital one to us, turned out to be just an ambition for power on the part of the AKP and Erdoğan.They have put so many people and such a big struggle aside for votes and put an ember in the houses of all mothers once again.”
Hezer went on saying that the current situation had no difference from the 90’s and drew attention to the executions and massacres perpetrated against the civilians in addition to the detention operations and destruction of forests and nature.
Remarking that every single part of Turkey was witnessing a funeral at the moment, and not a single day passed in peace, Hezer emphasised that the only reason for deaths was Erdoğan's defeat in elections which didn't allow him to become Super President. In other words -she said- the country will turn into a bloodbath until one man becomes the President.
Following the speeches, people started the vigil action at the peace tent accompanied by traditional songs.
In the meantime, the human shield action in the rural area of Hurê (Gömeç) village in Amed's Hani district, also continues.
The human shield action was recently started by hundreds of people in response to the military operation launched in Amed's Lice-Hani-Kocaköy triangle. The place of the action is located between the guerrilla areas and the Zergê Hill where Turkish troops are positioned.
In the morning hours, the participants of the action carried out cleaning in the area after spending the night awake and alive.
On the other hand, soldiers brought from Lice and Hani by helicopters have been deployed and taken position in the area. Two military helicopters performed reconnaissance flights over the area in the morning hours.
