Demirtaş meets Secretary General of Council of Europe
NEWS CENTER (DİHA) - A delegation from the HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) led by co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş had a meeting with Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland, in Strasbourg.
The meeting, also attended by HDP Deputy Ertuğrul Kürkçü, HDP Europe representatives Eyüp Doru and Faik Yağız, witnessed a discussion of the recent political developments in Turkey and Kurdistan, and the war policy implemented by the AKP against the Kurdish people.
While the HDP delegation called attention to the responsibility of international organizations in the seek of a solution to the Kurdish question, Demirtaş laid emphasis on the urgency of mutual ceasefire for the achievement of a lasting peace and ending of the conflict in the country.
Participants of the meeting also voiced concerns over the increasing attacks on HDP and the frauds AKP resorts to in an attempt to leave the HDP under the 10 percent election threshold.
