Turkish police attack at rally for Öcalan
BATMAN (DİHA) - Turkish police have stopped a demonstation in Batman which was made in response to the isolation of jailed PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and state attacks in Kurdistan.
A group of civilians that were made a call to join together by the DBP (Party of Democratic Regions) and HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) provincial organizations wanted to protest the way in which Öcalan is facing insularity conditions since 4th of April along with the attacks inflicted from curfews that are imposed across Kurdistan.
After the calls, the group which met in front of the Yılmaz Güney cinema wanted to walk to the Diyarbakır avenue but the police who formed barricades on the road with TOMAs (Intervention vehicles to social events) preventing them from doing so.
When the delegation insisted on completing their walk amongst HDP MPs in the group, pressurized water from TOMAs were used on the group to prevent the group from carrying on with their protest.
4 in custody, MPs start sit-in
Turkish police took DBP Provincal Co-chair Mehmet Candemir and three other citizens into custody and assaulted at HDP deputies. HDP MPs Mehmet Ali Aslan and Ayşe Acar Başaran have started a sit-in in protest of police attack.
