Turkish soldiers deployed at Hevsel Gardens
DIYARBAKIR (DIHA) - In Diyarbakir's central Sur district where a renewed curfew remains in effect, the onslaught by state forces gets heavier.
While police forces have intensified their attacks on the third day of the sixth curfew in Sur, three armored vehicles of security forces have been damaged heavily in Fatih neighborhood from which uninterrupted gunshots and blasts are heard since last night.
Two civilians injured
Reports say that a rocket attack was conducted against an armored vehicle carrying special operation team members near the historical Kurşunlu Mosque which has also been targeted by state forces recently. Two civilians have reportedly sustained injuries as a result of attacks by state forces in this area.
Soldiers deployed at Hevsel Gardens
In the meantime, the people in the district are strengthening solidarity and meeting their needs communally as they continue resisting the attacks in neighborhoods under attack. Residents also call upon the people of Diyarbakir to step up their protests against the state of siege.
Turkish soldiers have been deployed with their armoured vehicles in Hevsel Gardens. Hevsel Gardens, are the seven hundred hectares fertile lands near Tigris shore, between the Diyarbakir Fortress and the river. The gardens added to UNESCO tentative list in 2013. It became a World Heritage Site in 2015, along with Diyarbakır Fortress.
