DİYARBAKIR (DİHA) - Protests and resistance have spread across the main Kurdish city Diyarbakır in the wake of the police crackdown on demonstrators marching to Sur in protest at state repression.

Conflict intensifies mainly in Şehitlik and Cezaevi areas of Bağlar, and Vilayet and Ofis areas of Yenişehir where riot police have detained many people after raiding a number of houses and buildings. Youths are putting up resistance to the police attack, building up barricades at many locations and closing roads to traffic.

In the meantime, police teams in Bağlar and Ofis area are opening fire on demonstrators. Youths have also lit fires on Lise Street following the police attack on demonstrators at Şeyh Sait Square. Despite the ongoing intensified attacks and detentions, more people are joining the resistance on streets.

Houses on fire after bombardments by state forces

As the onslaught by Turkish forces gets heavier in central Sur district, special operation teams have intensified their artillery attacks. Bombs fired by police have hit three houses which remain on fire amid ongoing heavy attacks on the fourth day of the sixth curfew in the district. Footage shows the dimension of the state aggression in Kurdish areas.
