KESK: Role of public institutions is not to support war policies

ISTANBUL (DIHA) - The public workers union have made a press announcement about civillians having to live with insufficient rights for education and health, emphasizing the conflict and attack that are ongoing in Kurdistan.

The Confederation of Public Workers' Union (KESK) Istanbul branch platform have made a press announcement in front of the High school of Galatasaray located in Istanbul, Taksim in relation to civillians in Kurdistan living under critical conditions where there right for education and health are being taken away from them under curfews that are declared.

A banner with the statement “We do not want conflict or war, we want life and peace” was held by the union members where they frequently chanted slogans such as “We don’t want war, we want peace” and “Long live the brotherhood of peoples” at the demonstration.

The press announcement was made shortly after Şırnak Governor's Office has made an announcement of a curfew in the districts of Cizre and Silopi. Accordingly, a ban has gone into effect in both districts as of 23:00 on Monday. The role of the public institutions is not to support the war policies of the government in power. They are not to put the lives of personnel at risk”.

He also stated that for the violence and conflict to come to an end, effort must be made to achieve a situation where peace is stable and to stay.
