MERSİN (DİHA) - Turkish police have conducted an expansive raid operation in the southern province of Mersin and its Tarsus district today.

Dozens of people, reportedly as many as 50, have been detained in the operation, including HDP-held Akdeniz Municipality co-mayor Fazıl Türk and Contemporary Lawyers' Association (ÇHD) Mersin co-chair Mehmet Altuntaş.

The operation in Tarsus, which was also joined by special operation police, targeted mainly Kurdish neighborhoods. Police teams broke the doors to enter the houses for detentions.
