6 people,including co-mayors arrested in Derik
MARDİN (DİHA) - Six people, including Derik co-mayors Sabahat Çetin Kaya and Abdulkerim Erdem have been taken into custody. The sounds of explosions and gunshots have been heard from the Derik districk of Mardin.
Resistance have continued against the genocide attacks in the Derik district of Mardin. Sabahat Çetin Kaya and Abdulkerim Erdem, the co mayors of the town, Murat Özüçalışır, the deputy mayor, Yaşar Acabey and Mustafa Kutlar, member of the City Council and Kerem Koyuncu, municipality personel, were taken into custody in the different points of the town while they were going to municipality. Co-mayors were taken to Derik district police department. No information could be obtained the reason of the detention.
Genocidal attacks and blockade have continued in the Derik for months. Two martial law under the name of “curfew” have been declared in the town. Four days ago, the resistance began against the attacks. An Actual ban has been imposed in the town. The barricades have been constructed in several neighborhoods of town.
